STUDENT PROFILE

  • Has a diagnosed learning difference or an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Exhibits symptoms of a learning difference, a lack of learning self-confidence, and/or has been labeled as a poor test taker.
  • Has tested below grade level due to weaknesses in reading, English and/or math skills.
  • Exhibits low self-esteem and self-confidence in his academic ability and social interactions.
  • Articulates a willingness or desire to fulfill his academic potential.

OBJECTIVES

  • To individualize learning.
  • To implement basic organizational skills that progress and improve during high school and will contribute to a successful college performance.
  • To achieve maximum learning potential.
  • To build self-esteem and to develop confidence in his academic abilities and social skills.
  • To ensure smaller class sizes by monitoring teacher to student ratio.

CURRICULAR STRATEGIES

  • Participation in a mandatory three-week Summer Session.
  • Supplemental cross-curricular resources and software are employed.
  • Regular review of each student’s basic organizational skills.
  • Monthly team meetings with all teachers to assess student progress.
  • Up-to-date technology and cross-curricular training for teachers.
  • Workshop training, seminars, and continuing education opportunities available for teachers.
  • Additional resources available to address each student’s social and emotional needs.
